{succulent lies}

I’m not sure where it came from but last week I was hit with drive to scratch off a bunch of stuff on my ‘house decor to do list’. I think it’s because someone who has never been to place before was coming for dinner. That’s usually when I’m driven to do anything, especially clean.

My bathroom has been bugging me because the transformation I started months ago (like at least 4-5 months) is only 80% complete. That’s why I haven’t blogged or posted any pictures of it yet.

I’ve been collecting a bunch of old product tins at random sales and markets with the idea that I would put some sort of plants in them. Well I decided the time is now my friends. My close friend (the faux floral buyer) gave me a bunch of artificial succulent plants last summer and they’ve been sitting in a bag since.

I decided I wanted to put some in my bathroom so around 10pm on a weeknight I decided to go out in the freezing cold, get that bag from my shed and get this show on the road before my ambition faded.

Happy I did, because I LOVE the result!! I loved it so much that I filled a BUNCH of them and thought they looked so good that they were worthy of the fireplace mantel.

Take a look.

I also got this fun set of tea light holders. The lady at the store was so rude when I asked her if I could possibly get a discount if I bought #1-10 so I decided to just take #1-7 and try and let her sell 8 & 9 on their own! I think just getting 1-7 is more interesting anyway.

The original inspiration – the bathroom…just a peak.

Don’t they look great?! And I don’t have to worry about them ever dying on me. Succulents are such great artificial options for greenery because even the real ones look fake sometimes. I also added soil to all of them to add to the lie.

  1. Looks awesome Meliss! I walked past the George Brown cooking school on Adelaide yesterday and thought of you. Are you going to have a big dinner party when you graduate to show off?
