BlogPodium 2013 Part 1: Tea with Sarah Richardson

So remember that ‘dream room’ moodboard I put together awhile back for a contest ran by BlogPodium to meet Sarah Richardson? Well it looks like Sarah also shares my dream and I was chosen as one of the winners to have tea with her at her design studio. I’ve been watching Sarah on TV for years and it was such a pleasure to visit her workspace and hear her speak candidly about her projects and life in the industry.

I shared the experience with a group of other home decor obsessed bloggers. Thank goodness for name tags. So many names and new faces. It was nice (but kinda surreal) to see all the faces from the teeny tiny twitter pics come to life….and speak! You can imagine the buzz in the room.

Sarah took a few minutes to talk to us specifically about some of her past and present projects. The big one is her new HGTV show, Real Potential. Have you seen it? If you’re a die hard Sarah fan and you’re not sure about the new show and the format, just be patient and give it a chance. Sarah is evolving and wants to show her fans another side to her passion for real estate and home transformations. Can you believe they did 14 big home reno’s in 5 months!? That is one hard-working team.

I’ll be honest and say that although Sarah’s studio & showroom is lovely and beautifully designed it’s not what I would consider my personal taste. But something that I have in common with Sarah is a love of mixing vintage & new items and incorporating found treasures into your space. Here’s a few of my favourite antique pieces that are incorporated into the design studio.

Another big thing that Sarah was excited to share with the group is her brand new fabric line that was just released. Her goal was to create designs that were more timeless and stuck with her tried & true fresh colour palette and traditional and classic designs. As you can see the collection is meant to work together so you can mix & match like a pro (like Sarah herself!) and your space will look great.
And here’s a little glimpse into Sarah’s office. Post it notes – best organizational tool ever!
Two hours later and three glasses of delicious (spiked) tea, we were a happy crew. We all went home with smiles and a cute new tote back and pack of delicious Pluck tea.
Thank you Sarah!
