{ DIY: getting creative with tonic living fabric}

One of the great sponsors that I got introduced to at BlogPodium was Tonic Living. They specialize in designer fabrics, throw pillows and more. Tonic Living ran a great contest for a group of creative bloggers. They had a selection of large fabric swatches and you had to choose 2 of the fab patterns and do/make something with it. Complete creative freedom. Do. Anything. You. Want.

I’ll admit that I love the IDEA of sewing and I own not one, but two sewing machines but I’ll confess that it’s not my strength. So I wanted to do something simple (or so I thought) and show you step by step but things got a bit complicated and unfortunately I just have the final results to share.

I decided to make a reversable lined fabric & leather clutch because it’s something I’ve wanted to try for awhile. Ok, so don’t look too closely because it didn’t turn out perfectly. But it was a learning experience and I still wanted to share. If you want to make something like this try this tutorial

I ended up having some material left over and decided to whip up this super cute fabric container. It’s great for a small plant or just a catch-all for all those random things on your desk, in your kitchen or beside your front door. You can wing it or if you need some guidance, try this tutorial
Fingers crossed that I’m a winner!
