{design: resolutions}

Ah yes, that time of year where we start with a clean slate, optimistic for what’s ahead and set some goals to help us make things happen. For myself, I never actually sat down and wrote down my resolutions but I have a few biggies that I set for myself near the end of last year that I’m bringing along with me into the new year.

One of the biggest ones was to bring myself up-to-date with the times and create a website for myself. The objective was to showcase my work and all things creative that I have to offer. In today’s industry, not having a website just isn’t an option. That is when my friends recommended me to look for firms like Cultivate Digital who are known to provide the services of expert web designers in melbourne. I was also told that firms like these are quite popular among their customers for their quality of service. After hearing all the positive feedback, it could be possible that I avail their services, who knows!

Truth be told, I’m not a web designer or really familiar with putting together a website (another goal for the new year) so this was a little bit of a daunting challenge for me. I could have used a professional website maker and had all of the hard work done for me. But instead, I put my mind to it and, I have to say, our brains are pretty amazing! After a few slow starts and some trial and error, I managed to figure out enough to put something together that I’m happy with. I even learnt some new tricks. For example, one of my friends suggested that I use a html formatter to make sure my HTML looked cleaner. They can get quite messy and complicated, so it was useful to simplify mine down. When designing a website, that sort of thing is beneficial to know, so I’m glad that my friend was able to tell me that. If you are thinking about using web design for yourself, it is probably better off getting in touch with a company to do it for you, similar to this seattle web design company, I just had a lot of drive that I could do it myself! It wasn’t as quick or perfect first time as it would have been had I used a professional service!

I came up with my ‘identity’ which I think is a good combination of being very clean & simple but also fun & colourful, which I think is an accurate reflection of me. The site is very basic and clean but that was the objective so that the work is the focus. I also took the opportunity to highlight some of my other creative endeavours such as this blog, my photography and handmade goodies. You can check it all out at melissadirenzo.com.
