Yesterday I had the pleasure to escape the nasty cold weather and winter blahs and step into spring via the Homesense showroom. It was full of their spring decor goodies that are sure to give you some winter cabin fever and make you super excited for what’s in store at Homesense for spring.
Overall the collections were fresh and airy, full of pattern and colour for your eyes to feast on. This aqua mid-century number definitely came out on top as my favourite but I’m biased because it’s my fav colour and I happen to be looking for a sofa. Check and check.
Not unexpected there were pops of 2014’s colour of the year, Radiant Orchid, sprinkled throughout the space. It’s a toughy but you can make it work, especially with any of these great accessories.
I fell in love with these artistic abstract rugs. God knows I love pattern and colour but how unique and refreshing are these rugs with a watercolor/ink look and feel. Stunning. I’m in love.
Storage is always a priority for everyone. This spring Homesense will have no shortage of bright, bold, sophisticated and fun storage boxes for you to choose from. I was especially drawn to some of the middle eastern inspired patterns.
A big announcement coming to Homesense this spring is that they will now sell wallpaper! This is just a small selection of what they will be offering and prices will start as low as $29.99 a roll. Hello! They really want to take over your whole space, from the floor right up the walls to the ceiling.
And of course there was all the swoon-worthy outdoor furniture and accessories. I’ve been wanting some high-quality outdoor furniture to spruce up my backyard for a long time. I’d looked at sites like Remarkable Furniture for some stunning sets but I never ended up purchasing any. Ok, so spring may be a bit ambitious to start getting our patios set up but we can be ready to go for that first day when it’s barely acceptable go outside without socks and sit on our outdoor furniture enjoying a cold beverage while we secretly want to put about three sweaters. One solution I’ve seen that might help with this is getting a retractable roof in NSW, which gives you shelter from the elements, so even if it still a bit chilly at least you won’t have to suffer any drizzle. They’re great for blocking the sun from your eyes in warmer months too.
The outdoor selection varied from luxe faux grass animal lawn ornaments to rustic vintage looking oversized scented candles. My favourite was by far the outdoor chairs. They had a range of ingenious designs that could withstand all weather conditions, like the sedie trasparenti or transparent chair as we would call it. Not only would this look ultra-stylish, it would also be super easy to clean. Another design they featured was that shown in the photo. Aren’t they gorgeous! They are so stylish that I think I would want them inside my house. The mid-century inspired legs and simple lines just look so clean and fresh.
The most spring-like part of the presentation was the stunning variety of faux florals. We aren’t all blessed with green thumbs or beautiful southern light exposure in our homes to have fresh blooms. I wish you could reach into your screen and feel these beauties. They actually feel real. For real.
Overall the preview made me forget about winter and dream about all the new things I want to surround myself with this spring. I know changing home decor trends and seasons can be a bit overwhelming for some and not easy on the budget. The trick is to invest in some big staples that you LOVE and then update frequently with smaller pieces or accessories that fit the season, your style and let’s be honest, your mood.
Some of these items are already in stores and you’ll see them all slowly roll out over the upcoming months. Thanks for the preview Homesense and happy shopping friends!
