Lemon Ginger Smoothie

If you’re looking for a bitter sweet wake up call in the morning this lemon ginger smoothie is it. Is there anything more refreshing than lemon and ginger together? Their health benefits individually are well known and together they are like a super hero duo ready to give your body a kick start. Add some iögo vanilla yogurt and you have a protein packed smoothie to start the day off right.

The kind people at iögo asked if I would like to try their new large size pouches and since my fridge is already always stocked with their yogurt it was a no brainer. They’ve always had individual size pouches but now they have a large size, which turns out to be really great for someone like me (read: single gal) as well as a whole fam. I eat a lot of yogurt so I usually buy a few of the big size containers at a time but this pouch is even better. I can serve myself the exact amount I want and then seal it up and because the air doesn’t get it, it stays fresh and I don’t have all that questionable yogurt ‘juice’ the next time I go to have some.

I like to make yogurt smoothies for breakfast or snacks because they’re a great source of protein and starting off your day with some lemon and ginger is a real zinger for your tummy. In addition to iögo Original there’s also iögo Probio and iögo Greek available in the large pouches for some extra protein and probiotic goodness. Add some honey for sweetness and ice to lighten it up and you have an absolutely delicious Lemon Ginger Smoothie. How refreshing does that look!?

This lemon ginger smoothie is also great to give you a little jolt during that afternoon lull when you’re looking for a snack and a way to stay awake. You know, instead of eating a whole chocolate bar plus a bag of chips. What? who does that?!

I was also thinking that if you stuck this in the freezer it would make for a pretty amazing summer treat, almost like an Italian lemon gelato. But a little less guilt-free thanks to the iögo yogurt.

Honestly, this is my new favourite smoothie and I crave it when I wake up. If you want to change it up a bit just throw in a few of your favourite berries or use the strawberry flavoured iögo large pouch instead.
