I’ve been working on some great creative shoots the past few days that I can’t wait to share with you! But until then, this mini gold hanger DIY that I did on set seemed to be a hit on my Instagram so I thought I would share. The truth is that I didn’t have the time or cash to buy a bunch of matching hangers BUT I did have a can of gold spray paint. I went through a faze earlier this summer where I wanted to paint everything gold. I got a little fix today playing Midas and spray painted these mis-matched cheap plastic hangers gold and what a difference!

I love this idea. I have seperated all the plastic hangers to throw away in these days. Luckily, I haven’t thrown them yet. I was planning to change them with wooden ones since all of them are in different colors. I don’t have to buy new ones. Thank your for this great idea sharing.
You’re welcome! waste not, want not :)
:O
It was very chic, loved the idea ;)
Does the gold rub off with wear and tear?
I wanna know too
Kelly asked if the gold rubbed off I’m curious if it has or not
Hi Angelica, some of the gold has come off. I sprayed them very quickly. My guess is that if you do a few coats and let them dry in between that it would resolve the issue.
They do sell spray paint made for painting plastic; Krylon Fusion, Liquitex Professional, to name a couple. I have used Krylon Fusion before and it worked well but never on anything handled as much as hangers. It’s worth a try though because this is a great idea! Hopefully it comes in gold!

OMG, awesome idea. Very beautiful!
Any advice on making sure the paint won’t rub on the clothes? I want to have all my hangers match as well but with black :)
The paint didn’t rub on my clothes at all. Make sure you let it dry completely for 24 hours.
