There’s nothing better than starting a short week with a DIY project, ‘amiright? Plus I feel like I owe you one since it’s been a bit quiet around here. Don’t you worry, I’m working my little (big) butt off behind the scenes. For now how about learning how to make this gorgeous dip dye ribbon? This is like 1 on the DIY difficulty scale, as in insanely easy but high impressive factor. Those are the best kind. Impress while being lazy, that’s what I say.

All you need for this project is some plain ol’ cotton and food coloring. Cheap bedsheets or pillowcases are easy to get and work really well. Be sure you’re using at least 80% cotton for the best dye results. If you want the ripped look like my sample, start with a little cut and then rip into approx. 1.5″ strips (or width of your choice). It will rip straight I promise. It’s like magic.
Next create a palatte of your favorite food dye colors. You can mix different colors, dilute with water, keep on one palette or put each on it’s own, whatever you like. Then you roll up your cotton strips, give it a quick dunk in clean water (helps the dye look cool) and start experimenting. Slowly unravel your roll and hang to dry. Make sure you have something protecting the floor from dripping dye. They will dry pretty quickly and you’ll end up with these stunning pieces of dip dye ribbon art.

Take your super pretty and super cool new ribbon and let it shine with some really simple gift wrap to make your gifts extra special. Now the gift better be really good when the wrap looks like this. Just saying.  This ribbon would also be great wrapped around a bottle of wine for your lovely hosts or hang a whole like on a rope for a pretty party garland. There’s really so many options you could just dye.
