Don’t think because DIY HOLIDAY WEEK is over that it’s the end of holiday DIY’s on here. Nope, that was just a kickstart to your crafting season. Today I have to share this super fun Christmas DIY Marshmallow Wreath that I made on the weekend. How fresh, simple and deliciously fun is this marshmallow wreath?! Even if you live somewhere that doesn’t have snow it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a fluffy, white ‘snow’ covered wreath. Keep reading to see how easy it is to make this sweet piece.
WHAT YOU NEED:
– 3 large bags (6 regular size) of large marshmallows
– tons of toothpicks
– foam wreath base
– christmas ribbon
– white yarn/felt/material (optional)
This one is simple folks. I reused an old wreath form so to give it a totally fresh start I covered in white yarn that I had. You don’t have to do this but I think even if you’re using a new foam base, the yarn/felt/material looks better than the foam peeking through in between the marshmallows.
Stick your toothpick into the marshmellow (don’t mind the painty nails) and then start pinning away.
It’s a little bit of a process but if you have the tv on, you won’t even notice. You also may not notice if a few of those marshmallows end up in your mouth. Don’t get lazy, make sure the marshmallows are nice and close to each other and going in different directions. It will make the wreath look nice and full.
When you’re done, you will have this beauty. Make a pretty bow with some holiday ribbon and loop through the centre of the wreath to make a loop to hang it from.

I didn’t seal it but the marshmallows hardened in a few days, I don’t think they would be appetizing to your granddaughter once they’re hard.
I would like to see how they look in a week.Won’t the marshmallows shrink?

I love this idea! Any tips on what to do to prevent the ants from eating it if you live somewhere that isn’t cold? Might make it this weekend!
oh, good question. I think this may be more of an indoor wreath. I read that vinegar repels them as well as mint. So maybe soak the marshmallows in vinegar first? Or add some mint to your wreath design?

Now that is adorable! I have half a mind to go make one now, but I know that in my house the marshmallows would slowly disappear until I had only a yarn covered wreath form left!
Thanks! If it helps, they were pretty hard by the next day and soon rock hard…so not very appetizing if you can keep it safe for a day or two.
Very cute so what did you end up doing to store it? Acrylic spray?
ha! it’s still on my door! But I didn’t spray it with anything, it’s hard as a rock. I’m just going to put it in a plastic bag and store it in my condo storage unit and hope for the best.

Marshmallows dried out about a week after I made it and it’s looked exactly the same since. Totally fine as long as you store it carefully. I put mine in a large plastic bag and laid it flat to store. You also could could reuse the form and just replace the marshmallows the next year if you prefer.
Did you have a problem with insects? Beautiful idea and worthy of trying.
I live in a condo so luckily I don’t have that issue since it’s hanging indoors.

Marshmallows are my favorite. I can buy many of marshmallows as I can, but after a week it got mold remediation in the place where I used to stored it.
How did you keep the marshmallows from falling off once you hung it up?
I didn’t have an issue with them falling. HOpefully you were successful in your attempt?

I have one in my bed where I have a platform bed with storageoptions.
j just wondering I use hairspray on real flowers to make dry ones and they last a long time and I out them in a vase now I am thinking hair spray would do the same on the wreath
I didn’t use anything and they dried hard as a rock naturally and kept their form. They shrunk a tiny bit but it didn’t effect the look.

We have no snow in Brazil, I will bring the “snow” making your garland. I LOVED IT.
This would be a great craft project for me and my 5 yr old granddaughter! We hand have a hot chocolate with marshmallows while we are making it. I wonder how it would look with crushed candy cane sprinkles would look like on it? Then spray with a mod podge sealant.
