You all know how much I love giving old furniture a new life and new home. I’m usually a real thrift store hunter – you know, going through LOTS of rough stuff before finding those diamonds. Every so often though I’m not so much in the mood to hunt and kinda just want to look at stuff that someone already went through the trouble of curating and collecting. That’s where The Millionaire’s Daughter comes in. It’s an upscale consignment furniture and decor store with three locations in Southern Ontario. They do the hunting so you just have to do the picking. And for one lucky reader, I have a $100 store credit to giveaway to get your own preloved treasure from The Millionaire’s Daughter.
I’ve been on the lookout for a teak hutch for sometime now and found just the right piece. This isn’t so much an ugly duckling to beautiful swan dramatic before & after because there’s nothing wrong with the hutch I had before (PS: it’s for sale if you’re interested). In fact I really like it but the issue was that it was getting a little crowded and I really wanted a bit more hidden storage space. I was super excited when I spotted this classic mid-century teak hutch at The Millionaire’s Daughter and scooped it up. It doesn’t take up that much more room but gives me more storage and a counter space that’s great for display (my favourite) or for serving. I already have a bar cart but if you didn’t have room for both the counter would be great for that too.
Here’s a better look at the before & after of the dining space as a whole. As you can see, the teak hutch goes with my dining set and fits in perfectly.
Of course it was really important that I could show off my vintage glassware. I have a whole post coming up with a closer look at my collection. I know you just can’t wait! I love that this hutch has built in lighting and glass shelves to really show everything off.
The Millionaire’s Daughter has been around since March 2009 with their first location in Hamilton and has since opened two more locations in Oakville and Aurara. So if you’re in the Greater Toronto Area and looking for a unique and more affordable piece, you should stop by.
What I love most about consignment furniture stores is that you never know what you’ll find. You may come across something you love that you would have never thought to go looking for. The thing with preloved furniture is that sometimes you find the perfect piece as is but for other pieces you just need a little imagination and vision to see the full potential. In my experience, most furniture with a few years behind them are better built than some of today’s modern furniture so it’s worth giving them a closer look because you’re probably getting a better quality piece. Here’s 8 great pieces you can find at The Millionaire’s Daughter and some ways you can transform them into modern & stylish pieces for your space.

Love the look of the new hutch with the table + chairs. All tied together now, and looks lovely.
I actually really love the rattan chair transformation. Really simple but effective. So easy with that bold pillow
I think it is so marvelous how you turned that hutch into a beautiful new piece. I especially love how you painted the circles white. Amazing insight.
I love the hutch. :)
I’m so inspired and motivated after seeing all your before and after’s! I’ve already booked a trip to the Oakville location of Millionaire’s Daughter with my ‘bestie’, who will soon be living on her own! The first time ever! We’re very excited to have found such a wonderful place to shop in where she can turn her first house into a home. Almost one-stop shopping for her entire home! See you there!:)

the rattan chair– I have seen loads of those 80s eyesores and never thought of the loveliness beneath the giant pillow
I love the night stands!
Your new hutch is fabulous. My favourite makeover is the painted china hutch. I always try to get into the Millionaire’s daughter when I am visiting my daughter in Hamilton. Off the check their website to shop!
I really like what I did with the dining hutch & the night stands!
I am in love with the dinning hutch! From an older looking cabinet to such a beautiful white designed one, it really fits with the rest of the decor. The white adds so much more brighten to the room … and the detailed design is so unique!
Loving the dining hutch! I cant stop staring how beautiful everything is!
What is old, CAN be new again!!!!!!
Love the mirrors and the hutch — and really love the hutch/cabinet you painted white. You have a wonderful eye and vision for transforming these pieces.
What an incredible find! I also love all of your proposed before and afters because people sometimes have such a hard time reimagining pieces. Also, I really want to win this.
The dining hutch – the transformation is incredible!
Love to see these transformations! I especially like what you’ve done with the mirrors. Have you ever used old mirrors to frame artwork? Thanks for sharing
I always love to treasure hunt at your store! It’s so invigorating, especially when you don’t know what treasures you’ll find and how dynamic they can be in a different space!
