STYLE: wearing vintage in your every day

October 23, 2013 by TheSweetEscape Leave a Comment

And here’s part 3 of 3 of the everyday vintage style series I did in my neighbourhood of Kensington Market. I saved the most ‘out there’ piece for last. So once you’re feeling comfortable wearing a pretty vintage dress and then classics pieces like a suede skirt, you’re ready to get a little more bold with your vintage.
I found this blouse for $10 at a vintage shop in Kensington that unfortunately just recently closed. I was with some friends and the opinions were 50/50 when it came to ‘fun’ or ‘tacky’ but I love it!! What’s better than a cheerful & bold polka dot print?! You definitely can’t be a wallflower to wear this, you must embrace it. Go even bolder with some fun red lips & nails.

Now, because this print is so bold, it’s best to wear a nice solid bottom like black or blue jeans. BUT if you’re feeling especially adventurous and you think you want to start experimenting with patterns you can match it with a fun printed shoe like I did with these leopard print flats. Call me crazy but they totally work together. This is where it gets hard to explain why it works but some things to take into consideration are the similar colour palettes (black and golden) and the contrast between the big polka dot print and the smaller animal print.

Just in case you don’t think I actually wear these pieces out, this shirt also looks great while dancing in an alley party to Brazilian music with a bull. True story.
